Mr Jazz Guitarist usually teaches on Saturday so we don’t go out like most people but since he was invited for Cahaya Mag’s Brunch Party at The Campus in Ampang, we headed out there.

I’ve been wanting to check out The Campus ever since I saw the postings on social media and this was a great time to do so. (Formerly the International School Kuala Lumpur (ISKL), The Campus now stands as an iconic lifestyle neighborhood community center, where sports, education, retail, and entertainment intertwine in the heart of Ampang.)

We arrived at 9.04am to ensure we had parking as we heard there were 3 events going on that day and parking might be full. We could have arrived earlier but we missed a turn and ended up on the AKLEH highway and it took us a 15-minute detour before we could get back to The Campus.

First stop was Qra Grocers as you all know how much I love shopping at the grocers for fruits and vegetables. I got was really happy to get my cara cara oranges, lion’s mane mushrooms, heirloom mini tomatoes, red oak lettuce and more.

For breakfast, we chose to sit at the blue table coz it was blue. One of Mr Jazz Guitarist’s favourite colour.

His breakfast: Bananas, grapes, wild blueberries, quinoa, chia seeds topped with raw vegan chocolate sauce.

Mine: Bananas, chia seeds, chlorella powder, lettuce

Then we found some time to wander around and check out what’s at The Campus.

Soon, it was time to go for the Brunch Party.

I had asked in advance whether they would be any vegan food for us and they apologised saying that “they only have a couple of items on the menu that’s vegetarian but doesn’t really cater to your preferences So sorry about that! We will keep this in mind for future events But also yes, feel free to bring your own food, definitely no problem on that!”

That was fine for us coz even if they did have vegan food it wouldn’t be oil-free.

And since we could bring our own food, I made:

For him: Quinoa, mushroom & chickpea korma, carrots, red cabbage, avocado, cherry tomatoes, Japanese cucumber, cashew cheese

For me: Giant salad with butterhead lettuce, romaine lettuce, carrots, red cabbage, avocado, cherry tomatoes, Japanese cucumber, kimchi, mandarin oranges, red grapes, LF belimbing buluh. Dressing is made with Mazafati dates, water, garlic, asam keping, red bell pepper, chives, brazil nut.

It was a really fun party with good music and we also met up with our friends JD, Sid, Jo. We also met I-Wei who had attended my raw vegan cheese workshop at Publika way back in 2019 and one of Mr Jazz Guitarist’s workshop too.

For dinner, I had rollinia, mango and grapefruit

Mr Jazz Guitarist went for 2 guitar concerts so he ate at Botanique Private Kitchen.
